Beyoncé’s website faces lawsuit - report

Beyoncé’s website faces legal action over accessibility concerns

American singer Beyoncé’s website is facing legal action due to claims that it does not accommodate users with visual impairments.

The Independent reported that Mary Conner, a blind woman from New York, has filed a lawsuit after realising that she was unable to use the website without the assistance of someone who can see.

Conner claimed that the website violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) as it is solely a visual interface. There is also no coded alt-text in the HTML section behind the images, which helps to describe via an audio screenreader what the image is.

The lawsuit has further cited a lack of accessibility to all drop-down menus and the fact that visually impaired users cannot use a keyboard instead of a mouse to find their way around the website.
