Bradford optometrist suspended

A Bradford-based optometrist has been suspended from the register for three months by the General Optical Council following a fitness to practise hearing.
Shahid Nazir was found to have impaired his fitness to practise by reason of misconduct in relation to failing to carry out adequate sight tests and record keeping.
The committee considered patients appointments carried out by the Vision Express optometrist in July and August, 2016.
It found that Nazir said he had carried out fluorescein checks when he had not done so, did not make any adequate record of signs and symptoms or history, did not adequately assess or make a record of lens wearing time and lens hygiene regimen, and made a contradictory record of limbus and conjunctiva.
