Practice management software developer Xeyex has been listed as a finalist in two categories of the Great British Entrepreneur awards. The business develops and supplies cloud-based business automation software for retail opticians.
Xeyex reached the final rounds for both Small Business of the Year and Scale-up Entrepreneur of the Year for Scotland and Ireland. This follows an earlier listing by Royal Bank of Scotland as a top 25 entrepreneur for 2019.
The company’s CEO and co-founder, Grant Cardwell, commented: ‘This is a true reflection of the team, more than it is us. I have to say they work tirelessly all the time but have been outstanding over the last four months. It’s a great recognition for the product and service, and the business.’
Xeyex has announced its intention to grow its team in the Bellshill office by 25% through adding three staff with optical experience. In a climate where many are facing redundancy, Cardwell explained that the company itself was founded off the back of redundancies when he and co-founder Tracy Scott left a FTSE100 company in the aftermath of the baking crisis.
‘We’re fortunate to have a resilient business model; while turnover has been impacted to a degree, we’re excited with the growth we’ve seen, and more so to be announcing three new roles this month,’ he added.
