Fight for Sight and Nystagmus Network have joined forces to fund research into the complex condition characterised by repeated involuntary movement of the eyes.
Looking to improve the quality of life of those with nystagmus, two research projects would be financed by a joint venture between the two charities.
Dr Lee McIireavy from Cardiff University would be investigating a novel eye tracking approach to track patterns of eye movement by those with infantile nystagmus, while Dr Helen Griffiths of the University of Sheffield would develop an image stabilisation technology in virtual reality (VR) for individuals with acquired nystagmus.
Michele Acton, CEO of Fight for Sight, said: ‘We are pleased to be working in partnership with Nystagmus Network to fund research into this complex eye condition. Both research projects have the potential to positively impact the lives of those living with nystagmus.’
