College appoints director of education

​Lizzy Ostler has been appointed as the College of Optometrists’ new director of education

Lizzy Ostler has been appointed as the College of Optometrists’ new director of education and will take over responsibility for leading the organisation’s role in developing the profession.

Ostler has joined the College from the University of Brighton where she worked as a professor of chemical biology and staff governor. She has also held roles as a trustee and honorary treasurer for the British Society for Research on Ageing and was recently elected to chair of the Standing Committee of Heads of Chemistry UK.

Commenting on her appointment, Ostler said: ‘I look forward to working with the College’s education team and UK-wide stakeholders to develop and deliver a high quality ongoing educational experience for student and practising optometrists to ensure the profession is equipped to meet future challenges.’
