College builds new council

The College of Optometrists has introduced a new president and seven members

The College of Optometrists introduced its new council led by president Leon Davies at its clinical conference, Optometry Tomorrow, on June 20.

Professor Davies has taken over from Colin Davidson, who held the position for two years, while Dr Gillian Rudduck has taken the role of vice president.

There were seven new council members who were inaugurated, including: David Jameson; Dr Joy Myint; Madeleine Mould; John Tickner; William Gillian; and Dr Aleksandra Mankowska; and Stephen Clark, who co-opted for one year.

College president, Prof Davies, commented: ‘With transformational changes under way, from the GOC Opticians Act review to the College’s newly published Workforce vision, I am determined to continue the profession’s advances to ensure optometrists are at the centre of new models of eye care, and that their skills are recognised.’
