Colour test brings hope

Clinical
New test could help people with congenital deficiency who wish to become pilots

A test developed by researchers at City University, London, could help people with congenital deficiency who wish to become pilots, air traffic controllers, train drivers or electricians.

The Colour Assessment and Diagnosis (CAD) test and Colour Grading System, can assess the severity of the vision loss and detect and diagnose small deviations from normal colour vision in diseases that affect the eye such as glaucoma and diabetes.

A new grading system is also able to place people into discrete categories depending on the severity of colour vision loss and can be tailored to each profession.
