CooperVision has celebrated Earth Day by highlighting the steps it has made towards more environmentally sustainable operations.

The company recently announced a global partnership with Plastic Bank that provided the infrastructure for the collecting, processing and reusing of plastic waste equal to the weight of the plastic in its Clariti 1 day lens and packaging. CooperVision said that this makes Clariti 1 day the first net plastic neutral contact lens in the world.

A CooperVision document explained that over 95% of the materials used in its production processes are recycled, while employees often volunteered to contribute to coastal clean-up programmes.

CooperVision also highlighted that its sites in Rochester, New York and a facility in the UK utilise 100% renewable electricity.
