Keen cyclists from CooperVision teamed up with optical professionals and industry media to ride the London Revolution to raise money Optometry Giving Sight.
The cycling challenge circumnavigated London in a clockwise route that covered 187 miles over two days, taking in some of the tough climbs of the Surrey hills and Chilterns. All bar one retirement for injury, the team made it home with over 2,000 other riders who were raising funds for a whole host of great causes.
The CooperVision-inspired optical team raised over £6,000 for its chosen charity, Optometry Giving Sight, which will go towards some of the life-changing initiatives they support in under-served regions of the world – targeting the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error.
Reflecting on the ride, team captain Jason Burkinshaw commented: ‘As a team of like-minded professionals in the optical industry, we are passionate about the work Optometry Giving Sight do and we selected this challenge as it would appeal to a range of abilities. We’re extremely pleased with the money we have raised and want to thank all those who supported us.’
Clive Miller, CEO at Optometry Giving Sight thanked the team for their efforts: ‘All of us at OGS and our partners would like to thank CooperVision for initiating and co-ordinating the event, and say very well done to all the riders for their fantastic efforts – both in terms of fundraising and the physical effort of the ride.’
