Safilo launches global initiative

Safilo has launched its #United4EyeCare initiative to highlight the actions it has taken globally to protect eye health in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its Carrera manufacturing operations in Italy have been repurposed to produce safety glasses and facial shields that are being supplied to hospitals that need equipment.

In Spain, Safilo’s Polaroid brand has supported health care providers by donating 5000 protection masks and will be used by intensive care units and other frontline medical workers.

Safilo’s Smith brand in the US has joined Goggles for Docs, a movement to address shortages in personal protective equipment, by providing ski goggles to hospitals. Blenders Eyewear is also manufacturing safety goggles and has donated 10,000 goggles to hospitals in southern California.
