Deafblind UK launches support services

Deafblind UK has received National Lottery funding to offer emotional and wellbeing support and advice to eye clinic patients and professionals

National charity Deafblind UK has received National Lottery funding to offer emotional and wellbeing support and advice to eye clinic patients and professionals.

The charity’s services have been extended via the funding, allowing it to offer a six-week counselling-like service to patients who feel anxious at not knowing when they will see their optometrist again.

Marketing manager at the charity, Naomi Dainty, explained that a supplementary service for professionals has also been created.

‘We will be producing a range of materials to support clinicians in identifying patients who have dual sensory loss and enabling them to quickly and easily signpost them to our emotional support services,’ she said.
