DO collected store card points

Hounslow-based dispensing optician is suspended

Hounslow-based dispensing optician Jatinder Bhamra has been handed a nine-month suspension by a General Optical Council fitness to practise committee panel after it heard she added reward points to a personal store loyalty card and used them to make purchases.

In making the decision, the committee, chaired by Anne Johnstone, said: ‘Dishonesty is always a serious matter and in this case the registrant occupied a position of particular trust. The registrant took advantage of her position to commit the acts of dishonesty.

The panel noted that Bhamra had shown some insight into the actions and felt the risk of repetition was low.
