DO completes charity run

Usman Patel raised £330 for the East Lancashire Hospice

Blackburn-based dispensing optician Usman Patel has raised £330 for the East Lancashire Hospice after completing a 10k charity run in 51 minutes.

The money raised will go towards the hospice’s specialist palliative care services for patients with life-limiting illnesses, while also supporting their families.

Patel decided to complete the run as part of fundraising efforts at the practice he works at, Tyrrells and Embery Optometry. The Hakim Group practice takes part in the charity’s annual Corporate Challenge, which challenges businesses to compete to raise the most money in a year.

Speaking about the charity, Patel said: ‘The East Lancashire Hospice are so important to our local community and beyond, I think we all know someone who has benefitted from their care and dedication. They can never do enough for everyone who walks through their doors, so taking part in this run and raising money for them is the least we could do to support them.’
