An independent practice in Leicestershire has seen all its staff complete a training course in ocular hygiene.
Staff at Edmonds and Slatter Opticians carried out the training, which focused on blepharitis and dry eye, to become qualified hygienists.
Edmonds and Slatter partner Tim Cole said: ‘We are very proud of all our ocular hygienists, they are now able to advise and assist our patients who suffer from dry eye and blepharitis. At the same time they have developed their professional skills.
‘Approximately 60% of patients suffer from dry eye or blepharitis and are unaware that these conditions can be prevented through a good cleaning regime and our hygienists are perfectly placed to provide this advice saving our patients from experiencing unnecessary discomfort and problems.’
