Escaped alpaca in French opticians

An alpaca is seen walking into a French opticians practice in Brittany

An alpaca has been seen walking into a French opticians practice in Brittany on January 18.

Staff at Les Opticiens Mutualistes in Hennebont’s Rue Nationale had to close the doors and lock up the practice to stop it from escaping while they contacted the local police, fearing that the animal could run into the streets and cause an accident. It appeared to have wandered away from a private lot nearby, as the owner was eventually found and had picked up the animal within half an hour.

One employee named Helene told French newspaper Le Telegramme: ‘We saw him walk past the shop, he stopped in front of the automatic doors that opened and he walked in very quietly. He was not at all aggressive, he was just doing his thing.’

Photographer Pierre-Yves Nicolas managed to take a photograph of the woolly animal seemingly looking around the practice.
