Essilor increases rank on Forbes’ 100 list

Forbes has announced that Essilor is 52nd in its 100 most innovative companies list for 2018

Forbes has announced that Essilor is ranked 52nd in the world’s 100 most innovative companies list for 2018.

This is an increase on last year’s ranking, which saw them in 68th position. Essilor has featured on the list since 2010, identified by investors as having one of the highest innovation potentials in the world.

Laurent Vacherot, president and chief operating officer of Essilor, said: ‘Innovation has always been a cornerstone of our mission and our strategy. As an industry leader, we believe it is our company’s duty to continue pushing the boundaries of optical solutions that can correct and protect people’s vision everywhere.’

This announcement comes after releasing the first photochromic contact lens featuring Transitions Light-Intelligent Technology with Johnson and Johnson.

Vacherot added: ‘We have evolved our innovation processes to reflect the world today – networked, collaborative, and creative – in order to meet the changing lifestyles of existing eyeglass wearers and respond to the vast, unmet vision needs of 2.5 billion people living with uncorrected poor vision.’

Essilor is also conducting research into tackling myopia, which is expected to affect nearly half the world’s population by 2050.
