Leonardo Del Vecchio died aged 87 on June 27

EssilorLuxottica announced its chair, Leonardo Del Vecchio, died aged 87 on June 27.

The company expressed condolences to the family and global employees. EssilorLuxottica remembered Leonardo Del Vecchio for his values, leadership and passion.

The board of directors met to pay homage to Del Vecchio and noted his exceptional character and dedication toward the company and its employees.

During the meeting, the board appointed Francesco Milleri as its new chair, who will also continue as CEO of EssilorLuxottica.

Paul du Saillant was confirmed as deputy CEO and Mario Notari was co-opted as a new director. Notari was a director at Luxottica from 2015 to 2018 and will be considered a non-independent director on the board of EssilorLuxottica.
