​A team of eye care professionals treat 800 patients in Jalandhar, India

A team of optometrists, optical assistants and an ophthalmologist have treated 800 patients in Jalandhar, India.

Dr Scott and Roisin Mackie were joined on the trip by Professor Brendan Barrett, Sean O'Brien and Dr Sanjay Mantra, as well as their optical assistant children Tanvi Mantry, Ciara Mackie, Maeve Barrett and Ted O’Brien.

They travelled from Glasgow, Sheffield and Bradford first to London, then to Amritsar and by bus to Jalandhar to host clinics over the course of three days.

Most of the patients seen were given spectacles, others were referred for surgery and some were treated for minor ailments. Only a few patients required no treatment.
