Fight for Sight invites people to take part in a virtual running event

Fight for Sight has offered invitations for people to take part in a virtual running event to take them on a journey to the centre of the eye.

The free event is expected to start during National Eye Health Week on September 24 and will finish on World Sight Day on October 11. Runners and walkers can download an app and listen to an audio story while they complete a 10km virtual race.

The app uses geo-positioning to update participants on different stages of the course and reveals tips and facts about eye health.

Michele Acton, chief executive of Fight for Sight, said: ‘I think this is a fantastic interactive way to learn more about the eye while you get fit, and what better time to take part than in National Eye Health Week. Anyone can get involved and you can walk, jog or run at your own pace from any location.’
