FODO confirmed that all optical practice staff were a priority group for Covid-19 vaccination
The Federation of (Ophthalmic and Dispensing) Opticians (FODO) has provided an update on the vaccination programme for Covid-19.
In its update, FODO confirmed that all optical practice staff, NHS-funded or not, were a priority group for Covid-19 vaccination as frontline healthcare workers.
FODO explained that the vaccination programme was delayed because of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine’s complex storage requirements, but that it expected ‘the programme to speed up over the next few weeks.’
Variation should also be expected in the vaccine’s delivery, explained FODO: ‘You might notice variation at a local level, for example, with higher risk groups within your practice team prioritised in the event of temporary supply or capacity issues.’
