General ophthalmic services (GOS) contractors with an NHS mail account can access personal protective equipment (PPE) for free from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
A temporary online application process for NHS mail accounts has been created and are currently being processed within two weeks.
On receipt of an NHS mail account, the DHSC will contact practices directly to invite them to register for the portal to access free supplies of PPE.
Practices that already have an NHS mail account are advised to complete an online form to ensure the DHSC has the correct details.
Ordering quantities will be based on the quantities of historic volumes of GOS activity and the DHSC is currently building stock levels of PPE to meet demand.
