Patients have been left facing an anxious wait for orders following the closure of the Galaxy Optical-owned Future Vision Opticians.
Employees discovered the closure as they arrived for work last week. Staff and customers were met with a notice on the door of its Northampton branch, saying ‘the store is now closed’.
Patients awaiting spectacle orders were informed that they would be sent by Royal Mail to their home within 14 days, while other orders, such as contact lenses, ‘may not be delivered’. A refund scheme has been put in place for those customers.
A Future Vision spokesperson said: ‘This action was taken to exit a non-core business and allows us to focus on our core platforms going forward.’ Galaxy Optical is currently running a six-location trial with Marks and Spencer for M&S Opticians.
