High profile ophthalmologist Dr Bobby Qureshi faces conditions imposed by GMC

High profile London-based ophthalmologist Dr Bobby Qureshi faces conditions imposed by the General Medical Council.

According to The Daily Mail, the London Eye Hospital-based surgeon had performed eye surgery on patients with age-related macular degeneration including June Brown, who played Dot Cotton in Eastenders.

The tabloid reported that ‘scores’ of elderly patients had reported no improvement following lens implant procedures though, with The Macular Society submitting evidence to the GMC.

The GMC confirmed to Optician that Dr Qureshi had interim conditions placed on his registration while a fitness to practise investigation took place.
