GOC announces new Council lay member

​Professor Deborah Bowman is appointed as latest lay member of the GOC

Professor Deborah Bowman MBE has been appointed as the latest lay member of the GOC as of September 1.

Prof Bowman will remain in the position for four years and currently serves as a lay member on the GOC Standards Committee, from which she will stand down.

She will replace Selina Ullah, whose GOC lay member term is due to finish on August 31.

GOC chair Gareth Hadley said: ‘I am pleased to welcome Deborah to the Council. Her high level of expertise in professional standards and ethics will be extremely valuable as we continue our work of ensuring public protection in the optical sector. I look forward to working with her as the GOC progresses key strategic projects.’
