General ophthalmic services fees jump for eye examinations after April 1, 2022

General ophthalmic services fees in Scotland have been increased by 4.5% for eye examinations carried out on or after April 1, 2022.

The increase was made after a consultation with Optometry Scotland and would be applied from November 1, 2022.

Optometry Scotland welcomed the Scottish Government’s commitment to delivering on its agreement and recognising the sector’s ongoing efforts to deliver the best possible community eye care to patients.

Allowance values for optometrists and ophthalmic medical practitioners undertaking appropriate CPD and grants to be paid to supervisors of pre-registration trainee optometrists have also increased by 4.5%.
