GOS funding confirmed

The OFNC has negotiated Covid-19 funding with NHS England

Covid-19 funding for general ophthalmic services (GOS) has been confirmed for August and September by NHS England following discussions with the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC).

Additional funding at a reducing level until the end of 2020 has also been confirmed for all domiciliary providers and for GOS-dependent fixed practices in deprived areas of England.

The OFNC said it understands that October and November funding will be paid to qualifying contractors in December, with December funding paid in January 2021.

NHS England guidance also stated that if a regional or national lockdown occurs then it may be necessary to return to the funding model used between April 1 and June 17.
