GOS support talks continue

‘Concern and dismay’ have been expressed by the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) because continued Covid-19 support for optical practices has not been confirmed by NHS England.

After formal general ophthalmic services (GOS) support ended in June, the OFNC agreed with NHS England that it would continue during July and August.

‘Frustratingly, the level of activity required for fixed practices to qualify for support in August has still not been confirmed despite the end of that month now having passed. We will expect NHS England to take a fair and pragmatic approach in deciding which practices are eligible for payments,’ the OFNC said.
