GrandVision completes deal to acquire Tesco Opticians

GrandVision has completed a deal to acquire Tesco Opticians – paving the way for Vision Express to incorporate 209 stores into its wider network.

Following approval from the Competitions and Markets authority, the high-street optician will have close to 600 stores across the UK and Ireland.

Existing staff at the stores will continue to work at their respective practices despite the takeover, while customers will continue to receive eye health services.

Johnathan Lawson, CEO of Vision Express, said: ‘This is a landmark moment for Vision Express and we’re delighted to welcome 209 new stores into the Vision Express family.

‘This expansion will allow us to offer a thorough – and convenient - optical service to reach even more people, and we hope to convince them to make their sight a bigger priority’ he added.
