Healthcare regulators sign joint statement on being reflective practitioners

Nine healthcare regulators sign joint statement about becoming a reflective practitioner

Leaders of nine healthcare regulators have united to sign a joint statement about becoming a reflective practitioner.

The ‘Benefits of becoming a reflective practitioner’ statement was signed by the chief executive of the GOC and also by other UK healthcare regulators.

It states that reflection benefits patients by fostering improvements in practices and services and assuring the public that health and care professionals are continuously learning and seeking to improve.

GOC’s head of standards and CET Marcus Dye said: ‘Reflective practice allows registrants to consider their experiences to gain insights about how they can improve the way they work and the care they provide to patients. Following feedback from our CET consultation last year, we will be developing more guidance for registrants on how they can incorporate reflective practice within their CET.’
