Tributes were paid on September 26 in honour of Dr Paul Spry, consultant optometrist and head of optometry and the department of shared care and visual electrophysiology at Bristol Eye Hospital.

Over 400 delegates, from both hospital and community practice, taking part in this year’s online Hospital Optometrist’s Annual Conference heard moving accounts of how great a role Dr Spry had played in the recent evolution of optometry in the UK.

Professor Robert Harper shared his sadness at the loss of Dr Spry, who recently passed away at the young age of 50, and focused on the many contributions he had made to eye care, not least in the field of glaucoma management.
