IGA and Specsavers develop glaucoma skills

IGA teams up with Specsavers to support patients with glaucoma

To mark World Glaucoma Week (March 11-17), the International Glaucoma Association (IGA) teamed-up with Specsavers to support patients with the condition, which affects an estimated 700,000 people in the UK.

Specsavers and the IGA have developed training programmes for retail staff that will help them assist sufferers of the condition. In particular, they will focus on the administration of eye drops, which are vital in the management of the condition.

Karen Osborn, chief executive of IGA, says: ‘We know from calls to our helpline that many people aren’t told about how to put the drop in the eye correctly, or aren’t advised about the aids that are available to help them.’
