SightCare has created a video that encourages the public to share the love

SightCare has launched a campaign that encourages the public to share their love for independent optometrists and dispensing opticians.

A video has been created that highlights the work carried out at optical practices in the UK and features 35 SightCare member practices that share what it means to be independent.

It also shares how practices have operated to help the community during the pandemic, such as delivering contact lenses, fixing broken spectacles and providing eye care to key workers.

John French, the CEO of SightCare, said: ‘Independent small businesses are the heart of the high street throughout the UK. Being an independent business takes courage and strength and many are struggling as a result of the pandemic. Some are no longer with us. The high street as we know it is under threat.

‘Our video campaign, Share Your Love For Independents, aims to support a local high street thriving for generations to come where independent opticians and optometrists focus more on expanding ambitiously and less on fighting for survival.’
