An ABDO survey has revealed unacceptable levels of discrimination
Discrimination in the optical industry is at an unacceptable level and must end, according to the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO).
A survey of ABDO members found that 21% of respondents did not know whether their company had discrimination or harassment policies and 12% said their companies did not have these policies.
It also revealed that 47% of women said they had experienced prejudice on the ground of gender sometimes, a lot of the time or almost all of the time. 32% of respondents said the same for age and 24% for race.
Jo Holmes, president of ABDO, said: ‘I am shocked and dismayed by the results of this survey. It is everyone’s duty to promote and practise equality, inclusion and to respect diversity.
