John McGregor has been installed as the new master of The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.

His appointment was announced during the company’s annual service of thanksgiving, remembrance and re-dedication at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street in London. In his address, McGregor spoke about the importance of regular eye examinations in preventative eye care and the role that The Spectacle Makers could play in promoting good eye health.

A chemist by trade, McGregor founded Contamac in 1987 and chairs the company. He has received Queen’s Awards for enterprise in 2012, innovation in 2015 and was also awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 2018 Birthday Honours list.
