Kuboraum releases new lines that challenge the hegemony of eyewear production

Its avant-garde aesthetic is not for everyone, but Berlin-based Kuboraum has released two new lines that challenge the hegemony of eyewear production and styling. The brand finishes frames by hand, using methods that include melting acetate over naked flames.

The H-Series is a three-strong metal line underpinned by an asymmetric double rim wire which interlocks at the nose bridge.

The three shapes, oval, square and oversized round, all feature hand hammered finishing and soft 20% green tinted lenses. Temples have also been flattened unevenly by hammer.

The Coral series is the result of a long period of experimentation into surface treatments that would create the feeling of the deep sea and its underwater coral.

Organic-looking details are hand-carved into the frames, creating deep and uneven patterns.
