Keith Milne receives highest marks in lens manufacturing focused SMC Tech exams
Keith Milne, a lab technician at Caledonian Optical’s Elgin lab, has received the highest marks in the lens manufacturing focused SMC Tech (Level 4) exams.
Milne has been awarded the annual Wiseman Memorial Prize, which has recognised excellence in the exams since the 1950s.
‘I started at the lab 12 years ago and my boss trained me up, but I was keen to have something on paper as an official qualification,’ explained Milne.
Caledonian Optical operates five labs across Scotland, and Milne is now positioned to help the group grow: ‘Since I passed the exams I have been promoted to company trainer and will be mentoring other lab technicians in the group.’
