Edmonds & Slatter Opticians gives children from Chernobyl eye tests

Edmonds & Slatter Opticians in Glenfield, Leicestershire, organised a sight test clinic for 13 children from Chernobyl.

The kids were visiting as part of a one month long recuperative trip to the UK arranged by the charity Friends of Chernobyl’s Children (West Leics) due to the lingering radioactive contamination in the Belarusian air. Each child received a pair of Rock Star sunglasses and a goody bag of toys and sweets. A total of five pairs of prescription glasses were required for some of the children.

Natasha Cornish, optical assistant at the practice, said: ‘We have been seeing groups of children from the charity for 10 years now and it’s lovely to see them grow. We are looking forward to seeing them again next year.’
