Mayor of London looks at eye health

Investigation into preventing sight loss is launched

An investigation into eye health and preventing sight loss has been launched by The London Assembly Health Committee.

Individuals and organisations were invited to send their views by the Mayor’s office, which noted that 193,000 people were estimated to be living with sight loss in the capital, a figure projected to rise to almost 268,000 by 2030.

The investigation will cover why eye health should be a priority for London, awareness of the importance of maintaining eye health, the impact of poor eye health, and supporting better prevention, detection and treatment of eye health issues in London.

Respondents were invited to email healthcommittee@london.gov.uk with their views by July 31.
