Menicon: Daily disposable debut

Menicon has rolled out its first daily disposable multifocal contact lens

Menicon has rolled out its first daily disposable multifocal contact lens, Miru 1day Flat Pack, to the UK market. The addition of a multifocal lens to the Flat Pack lens range completes the product family, with sphere and toric lens options already available.

The lens utilises Menicon’s Neuro Adaptive design technology, which aids adaptation between viewing zones as a result of low-amplitude changes in power along the optical focal path.

SmartTouch packaging aids hygienic handling and is just 1mm thick – the slimmest CL packaging in the world, said Menicon. The design of the packaging means the inner surface of the lens remains hygienic during application because the patient only touches the outer surface of the lens, attracting three times less bacterial contamination compared to conventional packaging.

Menicon UK’s managing director, Kevin Mitchell, said: ‘We are delighted to add new products in our 70th anniversary year and the multifocal lens completes the Flat Pack family. It offers eye care professionals a great solution to those patients diagnosed with presbyopia who want to wear a daily lens who were limited previously. Health and hygiene have been front of mind for us all over the past year and the SmartTouch technology makes the lens easier to handle for a cleaner, more comfortable wear.’
