Road to Wembley

Myopia takes centre stage at the inaugural Specialist Club

Myopia control took centre stage at the inaugural Specialist Club which took place in Wembley earlier this week, attracting 60 delegates.

Keynote speaker and Optician Award Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year, Indie Grewal, told delegates that around one third of his business was in contact lenses and he saw all patients as suitable candidates. He said: ‘There are a lot of people out there who want to be spectacle free and speciality lenses can help them do that.’

Grewal also reported that from a database of 100 patients who had expressed an interest in myopia control, 72 responded positively to the offer of a trial of Coopervision’s Misight soft myopia control lens.

The Specialist Club is the brainchild of Nick Atkins’ Positive Impact and brought together Contamac, Ultravision, Menicon and Synergeyes for a day of talks and interactive sessions offering eight CET points.
