NEHW dates announced

The event will take place on September 20-26

National Eye Health Week (NEHW) will take place on September 20-26 and aims to raise the profile of optics by encouraging the public to be eye aware.

Its organisers Eye Health UK have announced that a series of initiatives will be launched to increase the number of routine sight tests carried out.

David Cartwright, chair of Eye Health UK, said: ‘NEHW is an important occasion for optics and has huge potential for the sector to come together to create a premier health event. We’re urging everyone with an interest in vision and eye health to get involved. The week is a great platform for public health promotion that can benefit us all.’

Eye Health UK said that during the week in 2020, Google searches around eye health increased by 20% on its next highest point during the year.

It added that independent research found that 74% of those who saw, heard or read advice about eye health during the week were prompted to act.
