Newmedica opens in Bristol

The Bristol site increased capacity, with first patients seen in June

South Gloucestershire Council vice chair, councillor Judy Adams, and the co-founders of Specsavers, Dame Mary and Doug Perkins, officially opened Newmedica’s Bristol eye health clinic and surgical centre.

The Bristol site started seeing patients in June and provided cataract surgery and aftercare, ocular hypertension and glaucoma monitoring, general ophthalmology services, oculoplastic surgery, medical retina clinics and vitreoretinal surgery.

It will be managed by operational director Julian Phillips with consultant ophthalmologists Johannes Keller, George Kiousis and William Sheehan.

Newmedica said it ‘has been carefully designed to offer patients a comfortable experience within light, airy and spacious surroundings with ease of access alongside a free onsite car park and good public transport links.’

Phillips added: ‘We are really pleased that our increased capacity means that we are now able to offer even more patients treatment faster. We’ve also got lots more space to hold CPD events for local opticians, which will provide an opportunity to showcase our facilities at the same time.’
