Newmedica services noted for pandemic support

A report highlighted how continuity of care has been provided during Covid-19

Newmedica has been included in an Independent Health Provider Network (IHPN) report that looked at how its services have supported the NHS during the pandemic.

The report focused on the second and third waves of Covid-19 and how patients were able to receive continuity in their eye care despite pressures on the NHS and long waiting times.

Rebecca Lythe, managing director at Newmedica, said: ‘We’ll continue to work with our NHS partners as we move into the recovery phase of this pandemic, to help them rebuild their services in a managed way which allows patients to achieve care when and where they need it.’

Newmedica has also shared its results for over 25,000 cataract operations with the National Ophthalmology Database (Nod) for the first time.

Nod was compiled by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Newmedica has submitted its data to enable the public to see its clinics’ success rates.

The ophthalmology service provider highlighted that its number of surgery complications was well below the national average.
