Optegra opens dedicated NHS clinic

The clinic in Staffordshire was dedicated to NHS cataract patients

Optegra has opened a clinic in Staffordshire at Heritage Trade Park in Uttoxeter that was dedicated to NHS cataract patients.

Richard Armitage, NHS director for Optegra, said: ‘We are eager to support the NHS as ophthalmology is the second largest waiting list for treatment. Our new clinic also ensures that individual patients in the region can access cataract surgery in a timely fashion.’

An opening ceremony was held on December 5, with the ribbon cut by town mayor Helen Headech. ‘Hopefully this initiative will help to reduce the long waiting lists for cataract treatment. The process simply involves the patient going along to their GP or optician for a referral and then the process is quick and straightforward,’ she said.
