Optician's fundraising for Blind Veterans and SeeAbility reaches milestone

Optician's editor, Chris Bennett, tackles alpine triathlon and 100 mile London ride to raise money for Blind Veterans and SeeAbility

Fundraising from the Optician summer charity challenge for Blind Veterans UK and SeeAbility has broken through its target of £1,000 with pledges of support from across the optical community.

Optician’s editor, Chris Bennett, will be taking part in the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon and the 100 mile Prudential RideLondon event. The first event tackles a swim in the icy waters of Lac du Verney, before a cycle through the Alps which finishes atop the icon Alpe d’Huez. The run is then at altitude around the ski resort town. The Prudential Ride London is a closed road sportive which leaves the Olympic Park in North London before heading out into the Surrey Hills before returning to the capital to finish on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

So far generous donations have been received from Essilor, Specsavers, Bolle, Cebe, Serengeti, Haine & Smith plus individual contributions. Both of the chosen charities do exceptional work for the visually impaired and all of the money raised will go straight to the causes. The cost of participation will be met by Bennett. Optician is still looking for donations from individuals and eyewear companies which can be made at https://bit.ly/2K9LDJ9 where you can also read more about Bennett’s journey to the start line.
