Optician editorial team wins praise

Optician parent company Mark Allen Group has singled out the journal for two awards after a successful redesign led to growing readership.

Reporter Jo Gallacher was named Best Newcomer, after making waves for her weekly instalments of Look Local, coverage of industry events and interviewing practitioners for Optician’s new Family Affairs series.

Deputy editor Joe Ayling also picked up a High Commendation award for his hand in last year’s revamp and creation of Optician supplements The Pre-reg Year and Careers in Optics.

Founder Mark Allen presented the awards last week during an event attended by journalists and sales teams from across the publishing group’s 112 print titles and events.
