Orcam makes the shortlist for Innovating for Disability award

Orcam Technologies is shortlisted for the Special Award: Innovating for Disability

Orcam Technologies has been shortlisted for the Special Award: Innovating for Disability at the Financial Times and the International Finance Corporation Transformation Business Awards 2019.

A total of 35 finalists made the shortlist from a pool of 270 entries, which was the highest number received since the awards began six years ago.

The Innovating for Disability category is a new addition to 2019, developed in partnership with the UK Department for International Development. It is intended to highlight ‘solutions that harness the power of innovation and technology to ensure inclusion among people with disabilities,’ according to organisers of the Transformation Business Awards.

Orcam’s entry in the category is its second generation device the Orcam MyEye 2, which was recently used during Israel’s national elections to help blind and visually impaired people to vote without any assistance. It can also be used by people who are unable to read fluently due to dyslexia or following a stroke or brain injury.

Optician is currently testing the Orcam device, with findings published later this summer.
