Belfast-based Petticrew Optometrists has joined the Mackey Opticians group

Belfast-based Petticrew Optometrists has joined Northern Irish group Mackey Opticians after 134 years of family ownership.

Originally established in 1887 as a jewellers, clocksmiths and opticians on Lisburn’s Bow Street, Petticrew Optometrists was under the fourth generation of the Petticrew family’s ownership.

The store’s owner, Andrew Petticrew, expressed his excitement for the merger: ‘This move is a step change towards being able to deliver the high-quality, consistent and enduring care and I’m thrilled to be welcomed into the Mackey fold.’

Mackey Opticians said it planned to revamp Petticrew’s store on Church Lane with new stock, equipment and extra team members.

Co-owner of Mackey Opticians, Chris Mackey, said: 'We're delighted to welcome Andrew and his team at Petticrew Optometrists to Mackey Opticians. Andrew brings a depth of experience and the whole team bring a level of enthusiasm to their practice which we are sure will make them an important part of the future development of the wider Mackey Opticians group.'
