Pompey practice plays up for fifth birthday

Portsmouth independent optician, Anne Gill Eyecare in North End, celebrated its fifth birthday this week. More than 100 guests from the local area attended the celebrations, which marked the opening of the practice in 2013.

Anne Gill Eyecare was launched after Gill, who has worked in optometry for 35 years, was made redundant in 2011. After a few years of locum work she decided to set up her own practice, which at the time, only had one optometrist and a receptionist.

It has since doubled in size and Gill now employs two optometrists and has welcomed the second of two apprentices to her practice. ‘The growth of the business has been down to the incredible encouragement and support we have received from the local community and various partners,’ said Gill.
