An interactive film created by CooperVision to inspire practitioner confidence around presbyopia and fitting multifocal contact lenses has been shortlist for the EVCOM London Film Awards.
The company’s film, entitled ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Opticians’, followed a reluctant presbyope who was in denial about his age and growing need for near vision correction.
Samantha Armstrong, professional services consultant at CooperVision, designed and scripted the film, which provided tips on communication skills for practitioners discussing presbyopia.
‘When I conceptualised this film, I just wanted to produce an educational tool which was really helpful for the contact lens practitioner, but in a light-hearted, interactive way,’ Armstrong said.
The film allowed viewers to choose their own adventure and explore the humorous wrong answers before convincing the presbyope to explore vision correction options.
The winner of the EVCOM London Film Awards will be announced on November 25 at the Mayfair Hotel in London.
